About

Hello Music Lovers,

Welcome to MasterpieceMusic.org

Our mission is to expand the repertoire of music available for flute players to perform, and for audiences to listen to.

There is a very limited collection of popular classics on the program for audiences because most of the works of the great composers are not available for the flute.

For example, Johann Strauss II composed Voices of Spring for a symphony orchestra.

Here is a sample of what Voices of Spring sounds like when played on the flute and piano.

Despite the appeal and the popularity of this great composition, it is frequently very difficult to find sheet music for the flute.

There are also numerous other popular pieces for which no flute sheet music is available, such as one of Wolfgang Mozart’s most famous works – A Little Night Music.

Mozart wrote this piece for a string quartet, but it also sounds really good when it’s played on the flute and piano.

As with the Voices of Spring, there is no sheet music available for the flute and piano.

I have prepared a sample.

There are many pieces of classical music written for full orchestras or a single piano, which can be adapted to give the flute a starring role.

Here are some more examples of just a few:

Tchaikovsky

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies

March of the Toy Soldiers

Theme from Swan Lake

Waltz of the Flowers

Mozart

Piano Sonata in A, K331F

Symphony No. 40;

2nd Movement from Piano Concerto No. 21

Beethoven

Fur Elise

Symphony No. 5

Symphony No. 6

Moonlight Sonata

Johann Strauss II

On the Beautiful Blue Danube

You and You Waltz

Radetsky March

The process of transforming these masterworks by the great composers to the format of flute and piano requires a highly skilled team of arrangers, copyists, proofreaders, audio and video engineers and musicians.

What is the benefit of this project?

For musicians, it gives them an edge that distinguishes them from other performers in their field.

New performers face stiff competition from other, established musicians.

The opportunity to perform new, popular works will enable new performers to present to their audiences a different program from what most of their competition is offering.

The flute and piano players we hire to record the new works will also benefit by gaining experience in a recording studio;

They will meet other talented performers with whom they can develop working relationships;
They will have their names on a commercially viable recording with which to promote themselves and build credibility amongst the public, other performers and music industry professionals;
there will be financial reward for them from the sale of the recordings.
Benefit for audiences

Audiences like to hear pieces of music that they already know.

This Masterpiece project delivers those well-known works in a new format.

The new format gives an interesting flavor of novelty, enhancing our appreciation of pieces of music with which we are familiar and have loved for a lifetime.
