The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies, composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky for his ballet “The Nutcracker,” is an iconic and much beloved piece of classical music.

Its enchanting and delicate melody has charmed audiences for generations.

The piece’s delicate and refined melody invites listeners to dance from the first few bars. Its status is one of the most recognizable and cherished compositions in the classical repertoire.

You don’t need to join an orchestra to play pieces from The Nutcracker Suite at your next performance.

In order to make the beauty of Tchaikowsky’s music accessible for flute players and their audiences, we’ve condensed this composition by arranging it for flute and piano.

The flute has about 80% of the melody; the piano provides rhythm and harmonic accompaniment all the way through, with the melody given to it about 20% of the time.
